What-ever!

Brian says something to Rilla and she responds with, "Whatever you say Dad, whatever you say" in a bored voice.

***
Miele disappears for a few minutes while Brian, Keri and Rilla are drinking coffee in the kitchen. Miele emerges from the basement carrying a kid's chair and other goodies that were in the pile designated 're-use center' (aka dump)
"Look what I found downstairs!" Miele announces with a big smile.
Rilla takes a sip of coffee and says, 'awesome trick, Miele."

bedtime routines...

At night when we put Rilla to bed she goes through this routine as we tuck her in.
It goes something like this...she lays down and says,
"no crying, no getting out of bed, and no calling names"

Shiny

My shiny is wonderful
(now, picture Rilla stroking a little gem)

miele

Miele: Mom, why does your face feel so soft?
Mom: Because I don't have hair all over it.
Miele is speechless.

Wrinkles

Miele and I were in the bath tonight examining each other's freckles.
She says to me, "look mom, your eyes have...owies on them."
"they do?" I ask
"Well, actually, only when you smile, then the wrinkles come out" (very matter of factly)

love it.

well, except the wrinkles...

mi chan

They're so innocent, kids. They see so plainly what we twist to make complicated.
Miele likes reading. She reads the 'Franklin' books (about a turtle) and on the back, it shows all the books you can collect. She'll point to each one and ask, "which one is this, mama?"
One is about Franklin's messy room. I say, "look at how messy he is!" and Miele says back to me, "no, he's not. Only his room is messy."

We were in Canadian Tire the other week and we stopped down the toy aisle. Finally, after a good 10 minutes, Brian says, "Ok Miele, let's get going." And she looks up and him and snarkily says, " I'm just a kid!"
So hard not to laugh at that.

Language of Miele

Miele's Language:

crowantic = romantic

cromonicor = harmonica

stepin' steps = second steps

al-vent = advent

Favorite phrases:

'what the heck?'
'prickles & gourds'
'yiiikes spikes!'

She watched the Little Rascals a few weeks ago and now goes around singing 'You are So Beautiful to Me'...it's pretty cute.
And if she wants something, she'll come up to me or Brian and say something like, "Mom, I really like your...uh, your pants." and then, "Can I have a red cheese??"
So clever.

She'd like to write a little note:

mmmmiele elle jasper rilla nnnnnniiiicoooooolaaa sophia
She needed a little help finding the 'j' 's' 'p' 'n' 'c' and 'h'. But I'm thinking the computer might be the way to teach her the letters and how to use them.
